LEGAL REFORM: UURI ACHIEVES SIGNIFICANT PROGRESS IN 2025, PRIORITIZES STRATEGIC DIRECTION FOR 2026

5 January 2026, Putrajaya – The nation’s legal and institutional reform agenda is set to enter a more aggressive phase, guided by key strategic pillars, with the drafting of several new laws being prioritized in 2026. YB Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform - UURI), YB Dato’ Sri Azalina Othman Said, emphasized that this strategic direction continues efforts to uphold the principles of Malaysia MADANI within the country’s governance framework.

The event was graced by Tuan Khairul Anwar bin Zakaria @ Abdul Hamid, Director General of the Protection Division, Prime Minister’s Department (BPJPM), along with officers and staff of BPJPM, reflecting their commitment and strong support for UURI’s strategic direction.

YB Minister highlighted that the Cabinet Meeting had reached a consensus to further strengthen the integrity of the national legal system while expanding the reach of the Mobile Court Initiative to ensure justice is accessible to all. The Minister also revisited the remarkable achievements of 2025, notably the nation’s decisive victory in nullifying the Sulu group’s claims at the French Supreme Court.

YB Minister reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to advancing the agenda of legal and institutional reform, in line with the principles and framework of Malaysia MADANI.
