BRIEFING SESSION ON THE WITNESS PROTECTION (AMENDMENT) BILL 2026 AND THE CONSTITUTION (AMENDMENT) (NO. 2) BILL 2026

The briefing on the implementation and operational aspects of the Witness Protection (Amendment) Bill 2026 was delivered by the Director-General of the Protection Division, Prime Minister's Department, Mr. Khairul Anwar bin Zakaria @ Abdul Hamid, who provided a comprehensive overview of the proposed amendments and their implications for the administration of the Witness Protection Programme.

The session continued with a presentation by Dato' Seri Umar Saifuddin bin Jaafar, Solicitor General II, who explained the proposed Constitution (Amendment) (No. 2) Bill 2026 concerning the separation of the constitutional roles of the Attorney General and the Public Prosecutor. The discussion served as an important platform for advancing institutional reforms and strengthening the governance of Malaysia's legal system in line with international best practices.
